Geo Tracker Engines

The following are replacement engines for the Geo Tracker. While a Geo Tracker engine will run for upwards of 200,000 miles, sometimes they die early and you have to replace the whole Geo Tracker engine!

The Gen 1 Geo Tracker G16A and G16B Engine

From 1989 though 1998 (Generation 1 Geo Trackers) the engine of the Geo Tracker was a Suzuki G16A 1.6L single overhead camshaft 4-cylinder engine wish an 80 horsepower output.

In  1996 they started putting Suzuki’s G16B 16 valve 1.6L  engine in the 4 door Geo Tracker models.   This was a slightly more powerful engine with 96 horsepower.

The Gen 2 Chevy Tracker Engine

From 1999 to 2004 (the Generation 2 Trackers, relabled the Chevy Tracker) the Chevy Tracker got several engine options.  The Chevy Trackers had 3 different engine options: a 1.6L I4, a 130 horsepower 2.0L I4 and a 155 horsepower 2.5L V6 engine.

Available Engines

If you need to replace the whole engine, an engine for the Geo Tracker isn’t to expensive. The trick is finding one, and finding the right one for your model of Tracker (so be careful to make sure you find the right engine for your Tracker).
